Collaborations Are Great

I was lucky enough for Tracy of Plastic Bat to come and visit me at my last craft fair in Dundee, one of these people you "know" through Twitter, Facebook etc but have never actually met face to face. Plastic Bat has some amazing jewellery and a gorgeous new collection available to buy now here. Well a few emails later Tracy agreed to help me out making some Ruby Loves Red bird logo jewellery pieces for the shop. The design has been taken directly from the shop's logo and sprinkled with a little bit of Plastic Bat magic and ta da -

So here you go, the finished pieces, Ruby Loves Red Birdy necklaces and brooches - a Plastic Bat exclusive for www.rubylovesred.com, if you want to check them out and have a closer look then you can do it in the shop right here.

Reminder Of The Sun

I took this photograph the day of the Jamboree just before I packed up all my things, the sun was out in force that day - unlike today when the only thing I actually need to do is take some product photographs therefore it has done nothing but pour down all day, if the sun is actually out there somewhere behind those clouds then it's a long long way away!

Come out sun please, I'd love to spend some time outdoors!

Big Top Jamboree

So last night was the most eagerly anticipated event of the crafting year in this fair city of Dundee (I like to big things up) and it certainly didn't disappoint. Drouthy's basement was transformed into a crafty creative wonderland with events kicking off from 2pm. There were workshops in corsage making by Paleface, Lauren Gentry took charge of the zine making and Nikki McWilliams made a fair few badges with the eager beavers ready to create at her workshop. A Cut Click exhibition ran all day long in the workshop spaces which was fantastic (and very beautifully displayed thanks to four early helpers including me, ha ha). What else.... there were balloons, projections, some live music, more importantly lots of cakes and I think a few beers were had by all the lovely shoppers who came along to support Dundee's creative community.

My Camera battery died pretty much immediately on arrival so I have had to beg, steal and borrow photographs from Joanna Montgomery (check out her blog here), she managed to get some great shots in just in time before all the shoppers arrived - just as well because believe me it was so busy you couldn't dream of going anywhere fast.

So all in all a fantastic and I think profitable night was had by all, I of course had to satisfy my desire to spend some cash and bought some truly lovely lambswool cushions by Hilary Grant which have pride of place in my living room already, photo will follow shortly. So a HUGE HUGE thanks from me (and I'm sure everyone else who took part) goes to Jen, Nikki and Lauren who did a fantastic job of co-ordinating it all, here's to the next one...........

Roll Up Roll Up

jam

Roll up roll up for the Big Top Jamboree. I'm so excited to have been accepted to take part in the Dundee Big Top Jamboree. This event is the brain child of Jen Collins, Nikki McWilliams and Lauren Gentry - three super talented and dedicated Dundee arty, crafty types, much like myself of course! It will be taking place on Monday 17th May from 2pm with fantastic workshops and an evening of shopping, quite the little handmade heaven! It proves to be a fantastic night out - what could be better than a glass of wine, some great company and shopping from some of the best handmade / designed products Dundee has to offer - Do you think I've bigged it up enough yet - if not I can do more?

Find out more about the event here - and you'd better swing on by and say howdy to us all on the night or I'll be sad!

And below is a write up about the last event from the Skinny recently - happy reading.

Been Drawing

I've been trying to get back into drawing a bit recently, it's been a while unfortunately but my first few baby steps seem to be going ok and more importantly I've been enjoying it. I have just been doodling in black pen so far and these little floaty lions have been the result, would love to know what you think...

Nearly There

am

Nearly there with the preparations for the Caird Hall Craft Fair in Dundee this Saturday (24th April). I'm never really sure how much to make as the markets and customers can vary so much every time you take part. I think it may be slightly busier than the ones I have been to in St Andrews but who knows! I've still got to finish quite a few bits and bobs off and as always there are still many things I would like to have started to take with me but just haven't had the time to do as I have been concentrating most of my efforts into the website and shop at the moment. But my table will be full (ish) and I will be there with a smile so hope you can come along and say hi.

Oh and it is in the Caird Hall, City square, Dundee from 10.30 until 4.40 i think?!?
