What can I say apart from WOW!

pencil carvings

I have seen these images around on various blogs, Pintrest etc and just had to share. All the credit goes to this blog. Narineh first received these images in an email doing the rounds and just had to find out a bit more about the artist. After doing some research Narineh found that the artist's name is Dalton Ghetti. He creates all of these tiny pieces of artwork without even using a magnifying glass which is pretty amazing. Born in Brazil, 49 year old Ghetti says he has been carving since he was a schoolboy - things ranging from stones, large piece of wood, soap, broom hands - until he found this way of working. Don't think I'll be giving it a go soon!

The Pretend Bear Doll

doll

I have spent the last two days just lounging about with my trusty laptop as my pal trying to recover from a rather hectic Xmas here at RLR and also at the day job too. It was good to catch up on a lot of blog reading I had fallen behind in, and discovering a few more along the way is always fun too. There are too many talented people out there and I inevitably find myself being inspired to draw when I read Illustrators blogs, inspired to sew when I read sewing blogs, take photographs, write, print etc etc you get the idea but it is nice just to have the spare time to sit and take in the amazing work of others out there.

I am loving this amazing doll by The Black Apple "The Pretend Bear Doll", wish I had thought of this myself, or at least had the outfit to dress up in myself! Not surprising that Emily's shop is the best selling shop on Etsy is it. The Black Apple is full of prints, badge sets and occassionally if you are quick you can snap up some dolls like the ones above - cuteness, and in Emily's own words "I've always loved it when dolls come with lots of doodads!"

Sixes and Sevens

Just sneaking a quick look at Folksy before bed time when I came upon this. I love it! I shouldn't love it because I have to say that phrase about 100 times a day when I'm working in the shop but well I do so there!

The shop is by Sixes and Sevens and you can have a look here if you want to see more.

Things I Like

treefall

I spotted these beautiful cushions by the ever talented Manda of Treefall Design tonight whilst catching up with some blogs. I love both the design, fabric choices and colour schemes of the cushions, Manda has recently been making some lovely arm cuffs too and they are all available in her Etsy shop. Her most recent designs have progressed to having quite an Autumnal feel to them, I love these colour schemes. I have been pretty poor this month on the blogging front but reckon that even if I just substitute my lack of words with pictures of pretty things that will suffice for the moment. Oh and definitely check out the Treefall Design blog, well worth a read :-)

These lovely little cloth stars are available here and are just so cute that come payday on Friday I might just be tempted to get one or two to decorate me, they would make fantastic gifts for some of my friends too - link here. What a cute way to display them too - lovely.

Hope you love as much as me, maybe one day we will be lucky enough to stock some of this loveliness in the shop!

Corella's Sketchbook

owl

I really love Twitter and all the amazing and talented people I have been introduced to, links you can stumble upon and how great it is to check out a new followers blog or website and be so pleasantly surprised by what you see. Tonight I have done just that and had a look at this blog Corella's Sketchbook by Illustrator Donna McKenzie. Some great Illustrations and inspiration on there and well worth a cheeky look. I really love these New Specs prints, owls are always fun but these ones have got that pretty darn "To Cool For School Look" down perfectly.

Studio Envy

I've seen quite a lot of photographs of various creative spaces and studios since entering the blogging world and I must say that I find so many of them totally amazing and inspiring. I currently have a small bit of studio space spread pretty much throughout every room of the house and bits and pieces hidden away in the corners of most cupboards and long to have it all in a place as amazing of these.... jealous, moi, never!
