Saints and Pinners

I recently discovered Saints and Pinners whilst reading this great blog by Blueberry Park (You should definitely go take a look at Karen's blog, she makes some beautiful things and is very inspiring). I love discovering new UK websites selling beautiful fabrics, it can be quite a task to source nice new fabrics and you can be so limited when buying from the USA as they always add a hefty sum of import tax to your order which is not so nice.

This website has some gorgeous fabrics and so so many I have never seen before so of course I had to get the old credit card out and order a whole bunch of new designs to build up my stash. When I order fabrics I normally get a selection of designs which catch my eye regardless of colour, themes etc but I was quite methodical in my approach to this selection and ended up with quite a colour co-ordinating bundle of fat quarters, nice. I couldn't have been happier with my parcel. My fabrics arrived beautifully wrapped in tissue and ribbon, with a lovely card inside and the fabric packs I ordered arrived in their own separate bundles with name cards on - it was lovely to think that they spent so much time on attention to detail which can so often lack from other fabric stores, so I guess what I'm trying to say is all in all I am pretty happy and will be shopping here again!

So.....what to make with these gorgeous new fabrics, that is the question? I am going to try to develop my soft toy shapes and maybe make some bears in bags or wearing scarves etc. I need to make some framed pictures using small scraps of fabric for the house in Nethy Bridge, Aviemore we are currently helping do up to rent out - will blog more about that later on.

Spoonflower package

I nearly forgot to share this with you, my little package arrived from Spoonflower a couple of days ago. Inside were the two test swatches of fabric I ordered a couple of weeks ago with the Ruby Loves Red crafty birdie on. One fabric has a giant birdie design on and the other has a whole load of tiny birdies on, the colours came out really true to the design so I think I will order it in quantity soon and maybe in a few colours - oh the possibilities!

Some fabric parcels arrived from Quilters Cloth a few days ago and the light has just been too poor to take any decent photographs. It is quite slow going trying to build up a decent stash of varied colours and patterns as well as trying to build up the stash of staple plain colours and textures to make new plushies with but if I keep buying little by little as I can afford to then I'm sure I will end up with a little mountain of fabrics!

I've been refining my patterns, faces and overall look of the Wing-a-me-jig this week with varied results and quite a bit of frustration but it has to be done. I have created such a cute wee cream coloured fluffy bear! No wings! I am going to try out a few more of these to see If I am satisfied with the results and will post pics for you if I am - I can be quite a harsh critic of myself so I'm hoping for the best. Oh and the cream fur fabric I have been using sheds fluff all over the house when I cut out the bear shape and I hate hoovering so these will probablt be cut out as little as possible.
