For the First Time In Ages

daisy

I thought it was about time I started to refine my bear pattern. I like the shape of the wing-a-me-jigs and little bears that I have made for previous craft fairs, they are lovely and cute but I would like these little guys to be developed a bit further and maybe begin to look a little more sophisticated, if that is actually possible for a soft toy! I guess it is going to take me a bit of time and a lot of errors to get something I am totally happy with but hey I won't get anywhere if I don't even start.

This wee man is quite cute, I am happy with the ears and arms. The arms being sewn and stuffed separately to the body gives them a lot better movement than before and I do like the eyes and nose (but oh my god how annoying are safety eyes and noses to get on, especially ones this small!). I think the white face doesn't help too much either, he is looking a little bit washed out and pale.

Not sure if I've got the energy to try out another, it is very cold downstairs in the sewing room, hmm maybe a cup of tea and a biscuit will help me decide.

Eyes and Noses

pinkbear

I made this little chap, maybe I should say chap-ess, last Monday but by the time I had finished him it was too dark to take any photographs, so a week later here she is. I bought some safety eyes and noses to try out instead of stitching on faces - Oh my god they are so so difficult to get on because of the small scale I wanted them in but when they are finally secured I think they look quite good. It gives quite a cute quality to the faces and brings the bear to life a little bit more (well figuratively speaking I suppose). I will probably invest in some new noses on a slightly larger scale to help make every bear face look that little bit different from the next, but that's for another time.

This one will be available in the new shop very very soon, watch this space!

Love this Little Gal

harriet

"Love this Little Guy" was going to be the title of this blog post until I realised that I have already named this bear as Harriet, a she not a he! Anyway I love her, she is made from the softest brown plush fur fabric, the kind of toy I used to love when I was small because I could rub it across my face whilst sucking my thumb!!! Her face is at a jaunty angle and her t-shirt is covered in lots of little girly things like mirrors, necklaces and shoes. She is available in the shop now if you want to give her a home.

Bearing Up

Here are a few little bears I spent my day off on Tuesday sewing up - my room now looks like it has been hit by an avalanche with the amount of cream coloured fluff flying around, I hope the hoover can take it when I decide to get round to tidying up!

Here are three of the little bears waiting patiently to get eyes. nose and mouth and trying not to sneeze with all that fluff in the air.
